Professional Teachers of Dancing Examinations
The Professional Teachers of Dancing (PTD) offer a wide range of examinations and medal tests in a variety of genre.
Our examinations provide students with accredited qualifications which are regulated by Ofqual.
The structure of the PTD examinations is designed to encourage those who wish to pursue dance as a professional career, or for those who purely use dance as a leisure activity.
Teachers wishing to hold an examination session must be
fully paid up members of the PTD.
Examinations are organised through Head Office.

Grade examinations may be entered in Classical Ballet (set and unset), Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Lyrical.
Grades 1-5 and all vocational examinations are regulated by Ofqual, but some genre have additional grades prior to Grade 1, for example Preliminary and Primary.
These tests may be taken in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Tap and National.
The levels progress from Preparatory to Professional Award.
These performance exams may be taken in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, Solo Song, Character, Hip Hop, and Song and Dance.
Students perform in appropriate costume and stage make up. Groups may also be entered.
The vocational grades are regulated by Ofqual and are Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2.
